Daniel began his career translating numbers into decisions in a commercial setting—building return models, scenario tests, and CFO-ready dashboards at a trading firm. That work taught him how risk, cost, and timing drive real-world choices. He carried that discipline into academia and policy, moving from research on infrastructure impacts at King’s to an interdisciplinary role at the Walker Institute. Since then, he’s led or supported delivery with multilaterals and NGOs: flood-risk and nature-based solutions planning with UNEP and Laos’ Ministry of Environment; climate-risk and pastoral livelihoods analysis for an EU brief on the Sahel; and climate-health vulnerability work with Sightsavers in Malawi out to 2100. Today, Daniel’s niche is brokering: he packages rigorous analysis into investable, delivery-ready options so a wetland isn’t just an “NbS concept,” it’s a capital plan with costs, risks, and performance metrics a finance team can sign off.
